Literaturnaya Gazeta

The literature Gazeta (Russian Литературная газета to German " Literary Gazette " ) is a company specializing in cultural issues Russian weekly newspaper. It consists intermittently since 1830, making it one of the oldest of its kind in the Russian press market.

History

The literature Gazeta first appeared on January 1, 1830. Time it was founded by a small group of authors, which included among others, the poet Anton Delwig, Alexander Pushkin and Pyotr Vyazemsky. The new newspaper should provide space for young writers publish their works in particular. In this form it appeared to the June 30, 1831 and in the years 1840-1849. Up to this time were there beside Pushkin among others, Nikolai Gogol, Yevgeny Baratynski, Nikolai Nekrasov and Alexei Koltzov print some of their works, mostly using pseudonyms.

It was not until some years after the October Revolution, the newspaper was launched again. The first issue was published on 22 April 1929 the newspaper was now controlled by the government and should be the central sheet of the Soviet Writers' Union. Since 1967 she appears every Wednesday and has since used almost unchanged logo, which also includes profile pictures of Pushkin and Maxim Gorky. The topic of the paper has been significantly expanded since then, and consists not only of literature, but also today's socio-political issues as well as a wide range of art and science. However, the focus remained in the literary field; were in Soviet times there almost all the then known authors publish their works. So was the popularity of literature Gazeta: the end of the 1980s, its circulation grew to over six million.

In 1990, the literature Gazeta was one of the first Soviet newspapers, which declared itself independent. Since 1997 it is published by a specially established publishing house based in Moscow.

Presence

Today's edition of the newspaper is 83,000 copies. You still appears once a week on Wednesdays and is distributed throughout the territory of the former Soviet Union and scattered abroad.
