Lithium azide is an inorganic chemical compound of lithium from the group of azides.
Production and representation
Lithium azide may be obtained by reaction of sodium azide with lithium sulfate.
Also possible is the production by the reaction of sodium azide with lithium chloride.
Properties
Lithium azide is a colorless solid with very hygroscopic pike -shaped crystals which is soluble in water. It decomposes on heating explosively and has a monoclinic crystal structure with space group C2 / m, Z = 2
