Lithuanian European Union membership referendum, 2003

The referendum in Lithuania in 2003 on the question of the accession of Lithuania to the European Union was held to 11 May 2003 on the 10th.

Question

The question asked in the referendum was as follows:

" Pritariu Lietuvos Respublikos narystei Europos Sąjungoje "

"I agree that Lithuania is a member of the European Union. "

Result

With a large majority of 91.07 percent of the vote, the voters were in favor of joining the European Union. Only 8.93 per cent were against joining. The turnout was relatively high at 63.37 percent. The required minimum turnout of 50 percent was achieved and the referendum was therefore valid.
