Litracon

Litracon stands for Light Transmitting Concrete ( light transmitting concrete) and is a trademark of translucent concrete. Its inventor and holds several patents and patent applications is the Hungarian architect Áron Losonczi.

For the production of fine-grained concrete and glass fiber mats are layered poured into prefabricated molds. Since the proportion of the glass fibers is low at 4% and moreover they have a small diameter (from 2 microns to 2 mm) corresponds to the strength of ordinary concrete. The nearly lossless light transmission through the optical fibers makes it even up to twenty centimeters in thickness, light, shadows, or even to see color. At a glass fiber content of 4%, the light transmittance of the material is specified by the manufacturer or 3%.

Litracon was by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen dot on 4 July 2005 with the 'red: awarded best of the best' Prize for highest design quality and was nominated for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2006.

The product range founded by Áron Losonczi 2004 LiTraCon Bt includes previously building blocks, plates and a lamp ( LiTraCube ). The factory is located in Csongrád, 160 kilometers from the Hungarian capital Budapest.
