Little Chef is a restaurant chain founded in 1958 in the UK.

History

Sam Alper opened the first Little Chef branch in Reading, Berkshire. The caravan designer was inspired by so-called " Road dinners ," which he had seen in the U.S..

Already enjoyed in the late 1980s Little Chef considerable support in the English population, especially merchants were among the guests. Little Chef was indeed known for good quality of food, but the prices have always been compared to other service areas, above average.

Since 2002, the company is owned by private equity investor Permira. 2005, closed 130 of a total of 364 branches. Shares of Little Chef, shortly afterwards. Peoples at the Restaurant Group Ltd. sold. Nevertheless, Little Chef is the largest service station chain in the UK with more than 20 million visitors a year.
