Little Terrorist is an Indian- British short film by Ashvin Kumar from the year 2004.

Action

The boy Jamal is a Pakistani Muslim who lives right on the border with India. This is secured by a schwerbewachtes minefield, standing at the watchtowers of the Indians. In the game of cricket with his friends of the cricket ball falls into the minefield. Jamal crawls under barbed wire through the ball when shot volleys sound, Jamal runs off and is suddenly on the Indian side. He flees from the border guards who suspect a terrorist in it. Jamal hides as appears a man with bicycle in front of him. The border guards hold to the man in whom they suspect the wanted. However, he takes off his hat and it turns out that it was in him to be a Hindu Brahmin who comes straight from school in his own words. The man, whose name is Bhola, has long been seen Jamal and sends the soldiers on the wrong track. Jamal tells him the game of cricket and joins him. Unnoticed, he comes to Bhola's house, but Bhola niece Rani refuses to first admit him because he is Muslim. Only when the soldiers show up in the village to find the "terrorists", she lets him in the house. She quickly cut Jamal from the hair and present him before the soldiers as dumb relatives. The trick works. On the night of Bhola and Rani Jamal bring back across the border. Rani stand it that Jamal hugs her in gratitude. Bhola and Rani watching Jamal return to his family. The mother is furious that he appears so late and his hair was cut off. Among her strokes he starts to laugh and also Bhola and Rani smile as they disappear into the darkness of the night.

Production

Little Terrorist was filmed from November 2003 to March 2004 in a desert area in Rajasthan India. While Bhola actor Sushil Sharma had already been working as an actor for theater and television, Julfuqar Ali and Megnaa Mehtta still had stood before Little Terrorist front of the camera. The costumes created fashion designer Ritu Kumar, director Ashvin Kumar 's mother. The film experienced on August 29, 2004 at the World Film Festival in Montreal had its world premiere. It was followed by numerous international festival performances.

Awards

On the Ghent Film Festival, the film won the 2004 Prix UIP Ghent, which in 2005 he was nominated for a European Film Award for Best Short Film. At the World Film Festival in Montreal, the film won the first prize for Best Short Film. Little Terrorist was nominated in 2005 for Best Short film for an Oscar in the category.
