Liu Boming (astronaut)

Liu Boming (Chinese刘伯明/刘伯明, Pinyin Liú Boming; born October 29, 1966 in Yi'an, Heilongjiang Province, China) is a Chinese Taikonaut.

Liu Boming is a fighter pilot in the Chinese Air Force and was selected in 1998 for the Shenzhou space program. He was one of six astronauts who trained for the mission, Shenzhou 6 and was finally commander of the 1.Ersatzmannschaft for this flight.

On September 25, 2008, Liu started with the two other Zhai Zhigang and Jing Haipeng taikonauts with the spacecraft Shenzhou 7 into space. Shenzhou 7 was the third manned space flight of China and the first in which a spacewalk was conducted. In this case, both Zhai Zhigang and Liu Boming were in a vacuum. While Zhai Zhigang completely left the spacecraft, Liu Boming but remained inside the orbital module.
