Liu Yunshan

Liu Yunshan (Chinese刘云山, Pinyin Liú Yunshan; * July 1947 in Xinzhou, Shanxi ) is a Chinese communist politician. He is a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China since 2002. Since November 2012, he is member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo.

Profession

Liu Yunshan is a teacher by profession and a graduate of the University of Education in Ulanqab Jining, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Career

Liu worked nearly thirty years in Inner Mongolia, mainly in the propaganda apparatus, and finally from 1992 to 1993 as deputy party secretary of the CCP. He was appointed to Beijing, where he became vice - director of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party in 1993. From 2002 to 2007 he was head of the Propaganda Department.
