Liutgard of Saxony

Liutgard of Saxony ( * 845, † November 30 885 in Aschaffenburg ) was the wife of the East Frankish King Ludwig III.

It was around 845 as the daughter of the Saxon Count Liudolf ( 805-820 *, † March 12 866) and his wife Oda Billung ( 805-806 *, † May 17 913) born. Paternal grandfather was Liutgards Count Bruno of Saxony, Lord of Herzfeld (* 786, † before 844 ).

On November 29, 874 it was in Aschaffenburg with the East Frankish King Ludwig III. the Younger married.

Liutgard was known for her strong will and her political ambitions, with which it has been a mainstay of her husband. She was buried in Aschaffenburg.
