Liuva I.
Liuva I ( † 571 end or the beginning of 572 ) was King of the Visigoths in the years 567-571 / 572.
After the death of King Athanagild followed a months-long kingless time. Finally, nobles chose in Narbonne in the Visigothic province of Septimania north of the Pyrenees Liuva king. This choice in a remote part of the empire is unusual; probably it was supported by only a portion of the Visigothic nobility. Liuva remained in Septimania. He made 568 Leovigild his brother as co-regent, gave him dominion over the Iberian Peninsula, retaining only the small part of the empire Septimania in itself. After Liuvas Leovigild death reigned throughout the Visigothic kingdom.
