The story to this album

The peculiarity of this album is that Brian Wilson - Founding member of the Beach Boys - had declared in 1964, no longer wanting to appear in public. On the one hand he suffered under the stress of touring, on the other hand he wanted to focus more on studio work on new songs. This intent he put into practice. Apart from a few appearances (eg 1967 for the " Lei'd in Hawaii " concert that " Brian is Back " campaign in 1976 or the Festival Live in Knebworth 1980) he stayed away from the stages of the world and worked for years in the background.

1998 Wilson published his solo album Imagination. In order to present the album, an appearance was scheduled. The very positive reaction from the audience on the evening of the concert aroused in Brian Wilson 's interest in further concerts.

1999 Wilson accidentally discovered the appropriate support group for his tour in a small club in Los Angeles. There was a band playing that called itself The Wondermints. At Wilson's surprise, she played the piece Pet Sounds from the same Beach Boys album from the year 1966. After the show he went up to the band and asked her to accompany him during his tour.

The occupation of the Wondermints consisted of the following members:

  • Taylor Mills (vocals )
  • Jeffrey Foskett ( vocals, guitar, percussion)
  • Mike D' Amico ( vocals, guitar, percussion)
  • Darian Sahanaja (vocals, keyboards, vibraphone)
  • Nick Walusko (vocals, guitar)
  • Paul Mertens (saxophone, flute)
  • Probyn Gregory ( French horn, vocals, guitar, trumpet)
  • Scott Bennett (keyboard, vocals, vibraphone, percussion)
  • Jim Hines (drums)
  • Bob Lizik ( bass).

In April 2000, Brian Wilson appeared with his ten-strong backing band in the " Roxy Theatre" in Los Angeles. Among the approximately 500 people in the audience there was a greater number of celebrities. The audience was not disappointed. There was an excellent concert, the band played perfectly, the instrumentalization of the pieces is excellent. The harmonies of the support group not only remember the Beach Boys, they even sound better than the Beach Boys a lot. The beginning something unsafe Brian Wilson put gradually in the course of the concert from his nervousness.

The audience may have expected a succession of the most famous successes, but the choice of the title shows in addition to very well-known titles of the Beach Boys as California Girls, Good Vibrations and I Get Around lesser-known title of the Beach Boys and pieces from Wilson's solo work, including The First Time. This piece was written in 1983, it almost "forgotten" and then accidentally found Wilson.

As a bonus, on the second CD an interview with Brian Wilson.
