Live (Band)

Live is an American rock band from York, Pennsylvania. In the 1990s, the alternative band gained international prominence.

Members

Members of Live are Chris Shinn (vocals and guitar), Chad Taylor (guitar ), Patrick Dahl Heimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums). The former singer Ed Kowalczyk left the band in November 2009.

Band History

The original name, which was founded in the early 1980s the band was First Aid. There followed several name changes, including Public Affection. Under this name, the band released 1989 album The Death of a Dictionary.

To gain a foothold After a series of failed attempts in the music business, committed Live 1990 Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads to produce the album Mental Jewelry. This album is based on the texts of the Indian philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti. With Mental Jewelry Live succeeded to capture a fan base.

In 1994 the album Throwing Copper, which benefited mainly in the U.S. on the success of singles Selling the Drama, I Alone and Lightning Crashes. Then put four live albums out, but their commercial success, was limited and caused a split response from the critics. Especially Secret Samadhi, which appeared in 1997 successor to Throwing Copper, offered by many critics view over produced, predominantly weak song material, but once again reached the top of the U.S. charts. Then live in Europe were only slightly perceived, but still toured with considerable success by the United States. In 2004 they released their Greatest Hits album Awake, which contains some alternate takes and a previously unreleased song from the time the album Throwing Copper also includes a cover version of the song I Walk the Line by Johnny Cash.

The end of 2009 the band gave announced their separation. Ed Kowalczyk was subsequently sued by his bandmates and tries since then as a solo artist, the remaining band members founded along with Candlebox singer Kevin Martin initially the band The Gracious Few.

In June 2011, Chad Taylor said in a newspaper interview that he wanted to revive without Kowalczyk, along with Chad Gracey and Patrick Dahlheimer the group. Kowalczyk was announced to be interested in any new collaboration with the three.

In March 2012 Live presented their new lead singer Chris Shinn.
