Liwa, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Liwa ( German Bieber forest ) is a village in the Polish Warmian -Masurian and belongs to the urban and rural community Miłomłyn ( Liebemühl ) in Ostróda powiat (district of Osterode ).

Geographical location

Liwa is located on the left side of the Elblag Canal (Polish: Kanal Elblaski ) south of the city Miłomłyn ( Liebemühl ). Through the village passes a secondary road that Miłomłyn on the expressway S 7 with Boguszewo ( Boguschöwen ) connects and continues to the provincial road 16. City consumption lead a three streets: Rogowo ( Hornberg ) in the south of Lubień ( Grünort ) and Glimy ( Skapenwald ) in the east and from Wielimowo ( Wilmsdorf ) in the northwest.

A rail connection does not exist.

History

The village called until 1946, Bieber forest and before 1785 also love was mentioned in 1681 for the first time. On May 7, 1874, Bieber wood seat and the eponymous site of an office district, which existed until 1945 and to the district of Osterode in East Prussia, to 1905 in the district of Königsberg, then belonged in the district of Olsztyn the Prussian province of East Prussia. In the year 1910 1.110 inhabitants were registered in Bieber forest after 1885 1.152 inhabitants were reported. Their number remained almost constant until 1933 at 1108 and 1939 in 1028.

In consequence of the war Bieber Walde came to Poland in 1945 and received in 1946, the Polish name " Liwa ". The village is now part of Gmina Miłomłyn in powiat Ostródzki in the Warmia and Mazury, Olsztyn Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998.

District Bieber Walde (1874-1945)

For the district of Bieber forest belonged in its establishment ten rural communities (LG ) or estate districts ( GB). Later two more estate districts were added:

On January 1, 1945 included six municipalities for the district of forest Bieber: Bieber Walde, United Werder, Ilgenhöh, Small Gehlfeld, (small ) Wilmsdorf and Sallewen.

Church

Prior to 1945, was the largest part of the population Bieber Walder Protestant denomination. The village belonged to the parish in Liebemühl (Polish: Miłomłyn ) in the church district of Osterode ( Ostróda ) within the Ecclesiastical Province of East Prussia the Church of the Old Prussian Union. Catholic church members were assigned to the diocese of Warmia.

Today, according to the high proportion of the population in Liwa is a Catholic parish church, which received its consecration on 29 March 1983. The parish Liwa is part of the Dean's Office Miłomłyn ( Liebemühl ) in the Diocese of Elbląg ( Elbing ) of the Catholic Church in Poland. Assigned to the parish are the places: Bynowo ( Bienau ) Dębinka ( Schoenaich ), Gil Maly ( Small Gehlfeld ), Gil Wielkie ( United Gehlfeld ), Kukla ( Althütte ), Ligi ( lying down), Lubień ( Grünort ), Ostrow Wielki (Great Werder ), Rogowo ( Hornberg ), Wielimowo ( Wilmsdorf ) and Zalewo ( Sallewen ).

Here surviving Protestant church members are now in the parish Ostróda ( Osterode ) incorporated, which belongs to the Diocese of the Evangelical - Augsburg Church Mazury in Poland.
