Liyuan Dam

The Liyuan Dam is a property under construction CFR dam on the Jinsha River Jiang, on the border of the circles Yulong and Shangri -La in Yunnan Province of the People's Republic of China. The dam has a hydroelectric power plant with a total capacity of 2400 MW, which consist of four turbines and generators with 600 MW. The construction work began in 2008. Commissioning of the power plant was planned for 2012.

The 155 m high dam is a dam reservoir with 727 million cubic meters of storage capacity, of which 209 million m³ will be usable space. The normal water level is at 1618 m above sea level, the Absenkziel at 1602 meters. The catchment area is 220,000 km ² in size and the water surface 14.73 km ².

The construction costs amount to 16.2 billion yuan, the equivalent of 2.4 billion U.S. dollars.
