Ljubinje

Ljubinje ( Serbian Cyrillic Љубиње ) is a municipality in Bosnia - Herzegovina. It is located in the south of the Republika Srpska and borders the municipalities of Trebinje, Bileća and Berkovici in the Republika Srpska and Stolac, Neum and Ravno in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The community has almost 3,800 inhabitants Ljubinje ² on an area of 326 km. In the city center is the Built in 1866, Serbian Orthodox Church of the Assumption nativity church.

In 2000 it was decided to honor Jesus Christ to erect a new Serbian Orthodox Church. On 11 June 2000, the foundation stone of the designed by the architect Ljubisa Folic temple was laid. After 4 years of construction, the church was ( see picture above) inaugurated on 21 September 2004.

The municipality includes the villages Ljubinje Bančići, Vlahovići, Vođeni, Gleđevci, Srbac - Grablje, Gradac, Dubocica, Žabica Žrvanj, Ivica, Kapavica, Krtinje, Kruševica, Krajpolje, Mišljen, Obzir, Pocrnje, Pustipusi, Rankovci and Ubosko.

The area around Ljubinje has long been settled and is mentioned in documents written already in the late 14th and early 15th century. Through this area proceeded important trade routes from Dubrovnik and Neretvabeckens to the north and east.
