Llanelly and Mynydd Mawr Railway

The Llanelly and Mynydd Mawr Railway ( LMMR ) was a British railway company in Carmarthenshire in Wales

History

The Company was incorporated on 19 July 1875. Member of Parliament and businessman Charles William Nevill was president of the Society. For 1,400 pounds, she took over the remaining assets of the Carmarthenshire Railway. On the existing railway line, a railway line from Llanelli to Cross Hands was built. The 19- kilometer route was opened on 1 January 1883. With the Railways Act 1921, the company was struck on 1 January 1923, the Great Western Railway.

The track was in operation until 1989. Since 1999, the museum railway Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway strives to rebuild the track.
