Llanero

The Llaneros (about inhabitants of the valley ) are primarily a South American ethnic group Orinocoebene lying on Colombian and Venezuelan soil. The term is used for other ethnicities as the Huasos in Chile, the Mexican Charros, the Qorilazos from Peru and for the Cowboys (also Vaqueros ) from the USA and entsprechendend for the Gauchos in Argentina or Uruguay.

In the Venezuelan Wars of Independence (1810-1823) played an important role in the militia of José Tomás Boves, who defended the Spanish rule in the country. For the Llaneros significantly when, however, was the motive that Boves at least verbally also a social revolutionary approach advocated that turned against the privileged classes of the indigenous men ( "The Land of the White for the colored people " ). On the other hand, Simón Bolívar's independence movement and in 1813 was based on a few hundred Llaneros.
