The Llantrisant and Taff Vale Junction Railway was a British railway company in Glamorganshire in Wales

History

The Company was incorporated on 7 June 1861. The Taff Vale Railway financed this company. The aim was to prevent competition between rail companies the area west opened their own route between Cardiff and Merthyr Tydfil. The standard gauge railway line between Maesaraul Junction ( at Llantrisant ) and Tonteg Junction was opened in December 1863 for freight and 1865 for passenger traffic. Between Maesaraul Junction and Llantrisant a third rail was installed in the already existing broad gauge stretch of the Great Western Railway to Mwyndy mine. Later, some sidings for different enterprises have been posted yet. The Taff Vale Railway ( TVR ) operation from the beginning to the track. On June 20, 1870 from the start of operation, the TVR leased retroactively the Llantrisant and Taff Vale Junction Railway for 999 years. On August 26, 1889, the company was taken over by the Taff Vale Railway.
