Llo

Llo is a commune with 161 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Pyrénées- Orientales of the Languedoc -Roussillon region. It belongs to the district of Prades and Canton Saillagouse. The municipality is part of the Pyrénées Catalanes Regional Natural Park.

Geography

The nordkatalonische community Llo comprises the uppermost portion of the Segretales and its mountain flanks. The Segre, longest tributary of the Ebro, has its source in the south of the municipality of Llo and formed on the first ten kilometers of the run length Segreschlucht ( Gorges du Sègre ). The south-east boundary of the parish - at the same time border between France and Spain - runs along the Pyrenees ridge. The highest point in the municipality is the peak Puigmal de Segre or Pic de Segre with 2840 m above sea level. Almost half of the 28.44 km ² large municipality area is forested ( Forêt communale de Llo, Bosc del Quer ).
