Lloyd Price

Lloyd Price ( born March 9, 1933, Kenner, Louisiana ) is an American rhythm and blues and rock ' n' roll singer who was especially successful in the 1950s and early 1960s.

Price grew up in Kenner, a suburb of New Orleans, where he became familiar through the jukebox in the fish shop of his mother at an early stage with the music of Louis Jordan, Amos Milburn, Jimmy and Joe Liggins and Roy Milton. Together with his young brother Leo put Price in the early 1950s together a band that played mainly in the area connoisseur. In such an appearance Dave Bartholomew was aware of the young singer. As a result, Price got in 1952 a contract with Specialty Records. His composition Lawdy Miss Clawdy soared to the top of the R & B charts and is now considered classics. After his return, he and Harold Logan and Bill Boskent own label called KRC Records. 1962 adopted Price from ABC - Paramount and, together with Logan Double L Records, where Wilson Pickett made ​​his first recordings. Later, the two launched yet another label, Turntable Records. However, after Logan was murdered in 1969, moved to Price turned fully from the music scene. He moved to Africa, where she helped financially and Muhammad Ali in two boxing matches.
