Loango National Park

The Loango National Park (French: Parc National de Loango ) lies on the Atlantic coast in southwestern Gabon, located about 300 km from the capital Libreville. The about 1550 km ² large park was established in 2002 by the merger of Iguela - and the Loango Reserve. He is one of thirteen National Parks in Gabon, which will serve the restructuring of the economy, away from the slowly dwindling oil revenues towards the ecotourism. Together, they take a 10% of the total area of Gabon.

The park is known for the large African animals, including elephants, buffalo and hippos are on the white sandy beaches watching. In the probably most important National Park in Gabon live up to 10,000 forest elephants. More frequently sighted animals are gorillas, Rotbüffel, antelope, hogs, sea turtles, Atlantic tarpon, freshwater and mackerel hippos.
