Loano

Loano ( in Ligurian: Löa ) is a town with 11,471 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the Italian region of Liguria. Politically, it is located in the province of Savona.

Geography

Loano is located on the Riviera di Ponente, between the municipalities of Pietra Ligure and Borghetto Santo Spirito. In the urban area is the mouth of the river Rio Nimbalto. From the provincial capital Savona the community is about 34 kilometers away. Due to its sheltered position in the lee of a mountain belt, is the highest elevation of the Monte Carmo 1389 meters above sea level, is pleased Loano, in contrast to the neighboring communities of a particularly mild climate. This peculiarity has the nickname Isola del Ponente ( to German: Island of Ponente ) of the city introduced. With its territory Loano belongs to the Comunità Montana Pollupice.
