The Lobach ( as specified by the competent Wupper Association also Lohbach ) is about 4.3 km long, orographic right side of the creek Eschbach in Remscheid, which leads in turn into the Wupper.

Course

The Lobach runs from the hamlet of Rose Hill in a westerly direction through the district Pape Mountain, then south to HONSBERG and Kremenholl over. In Hammertal it flows south west past the Ehringhausen district.

Large parts of the Lobachs are channeled and straightened.

The source is underground. The Lobach occurs first for a 200m long section. Then he runs back for about 246 m underground until it comes back to the surface in the district Pape mountain. South of the HONSBERG district he runs back underground.

He then joins the Kreme Holler and the Linkläuer Bach. To the south of the district Tyrol with the inflow of Tyrol Bach it flows into the Eschbach. This point at which the Lobach is called leads " At the big bridge ".

Ten more or less preserved hammer works testify to the former importance of the industrial Lobachtales and the hammer valley. Hammer mills and similar early industrial facilities were at the time driven by water power, which is why they were dependent on the proximity of rivers. In reconstructed pond plants belonging to the former " hunting mountain hammer ," said fire salamanders and newts have settled. Because of the cultural and historical importance of the creek and the huge surrounding forest area, the area of the stream is designated as a nature reserve since 15 November 2001, subject to a preservation order.

The water of the Lobach had in 2002, according to the water - quality class - map of the city of Remscheid in Class II.
