Loch Achray

Loch Achray is a small freshwater lake on the southern edge of the Scottish Highlands. It is located 11 km west of Callander in the Stirling Unitary Authoritiy between Loch Katrine and Loch Venachar in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

Loch Achray can be reached by car via the A821 very well from the east and south. As the road but does not run directly on the shore, they hardly harm the picturesque appearance of the lake. Villages or other settlements on the lake there are none, only the hole Archay hotel is located about 300 m from the west bank.

With an average depth of only 11 meters Loch Achray is very shallow compared to other Scottish lakes. The south side of Loch Achray is almost completely forested. The lake is a popular destination for tourists and amateur photographers due to its scenic location between Ben Venue and Ben Ledi. Anglers are mainly due to the numerous brown trout.
