Loch Eck

Loch Eck is a freshwater lake in the Scottish Lowlands. It is located about 10 km north of Dunoon, Argyll and Bute unitary authority in the Argyll Forest Park, which in turn is part of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The eastern shore of the lake is easily accessible via the A815 well developed. The western shore is, however, accessible only from forest roads.

Loch Eck has the typical elongated shape of a lake during the Ice Age glacial origin. It is 9.5 km long, but only about 500 meters wide. The maximum depth is 42 m. The lake gets its water mainly at the north end by the brook Cur and drained in the south to the River Eachaig, which flows into the Firth of Clyde 5km south east over Holy Loch. On the east bank, and at the southern end of Loch Eck are holiday villages, where houses can be rented for self catering. The relatively pristine western shore is a popular area for walkers.
