Loch Fyne

Loch Fyne is a 65 km long fjord on the west coast of Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It flows into the Sound of Bute north of the Isle of Arran. About the Crinan Canal it is connected with the Jura Sound.

Loch Fyne is a popular destination for anglers and divers. In the estuary dolphins and seals live. In summer, basking sharks are found. Tourists appreciate the area for buildings such as Inveraray Castle or the dilapidated Old Castle Lachlan.

Loch Fyne is known for his special oyster. This fjord is given a constant freshwater inflow, so that the salt content compared to the Atlantic is quite low. This and the strong tidal currents, which are constantly providing new plankton as food for the oysters, provide a special taste of oysters compared to conventional varieties.
