Locomotiv GT

Locomotiv GT ( LGT short ) is a Hungarian rock band. It consisted 1971-1992 and was founded by Gábor Presser founding member in 1997 new.

Band History

Locomotiv GT was founded on April 6, 1971 in Budapest by the former members of the band Omega, the keyboardist and singer Gábor Presser and drummer József Laux. Károly Frenreisz came as the bass guitarist of the band Metro and guitarist Tamás Barta previously played in Hungaria. Fifth, unofficial founding member was the lawyer and wife of Laux, Anna Adamis, who wrote the lyrics for the band. The compositions were predominantly from Presser.

In December 1971, they released their debut album at the Hungarian Pepita label. In the same year the band at the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo and one year at the Great Western Express Festival in Lincoln later took part. In 1973 Frenreisz left the band and formed the band Skorpio. He was replaced by Tamás Somló. 1974 saw the band a long tour of North America and performed jointly with U.S. bands like ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chicago, Aerosmith and the Eagles. More tours abroad in Europe, particularly Eastern Europe, followed. Locomotiv GT achieved far greater success abroad than at home. The band released several LPs in English, among other things, with Jack Bruce. In the GDR, the band was best known for the music for the musical Notional Report on an American Pop Festival Tibor Déry. The Hungarian LP to the piece, recorded in 1973 with the Budapest comedy actors, has sold 50,000 copies. In the GDR, the musical was first staged in February 1976 at the Meininger Theater with the Meiningen rock band " Pli ". Next came the musical in Leipzig in a staging by Karl Georg Kayser, newly arranged by Thomas Burkholz and implemented by the musical band from Leipzig SET 1977 at the Schauspielhaus to the performance. In the early 1970s were the title go again never a cuckoo wristwatch, Help me to sleep and I wait for you nowhere appeared with German lyrics by Kurt Demmler at Amiga.

Another reshuffle in the band, there was 1974, when Barta retired. For him, János Karácsony came from General. Laux left the band in 1977 and was replaced by János Solti. In 1992, the band broke up and was refounded in 1997 by Presser. With the line-up changes, the band oriented increasingly to jazz rock, but never lost their typical sound, which is characterized by Pressers concise blues voice and the virtuosity of all band members.
