Logan County (Arkansas)

The Logan County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Paris.

Geography

The County is located in the central northwestern Arkansas, is in the east just 60 km from Oklahoma and has an area of 1,895 square kilometers, of which 56 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

THe Logan County was formed on March 22, 1871 from parts of Franklin County, Johnson County, of Pope County, the Scott County and the Yell County. It was named after James, Logan (1791-1859), a pioneer and later members of the Arkansas General Assembly.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2010 lived in Logan County 22,353 people in 8,821 households. The population density was 12.2 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The racial the population was composed of 93.2 percent white, 1.3 percent African American, 1.1 percent Native American, 1.6 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 2.3 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

In the 8,821 households lived statistically 2.56 per person.

24.1 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 58.9 percent were between 18 and 64 and 17.0 percent were 65 years or older. 50.3 percent of the population was female.

The median income for a household was $ 32,827. The per capita income was $ 18,924. 20.7 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
