Logan County (Colorado)
The Logan County is a county located in the state of Colorado of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Sterling.
Geography
The County is located in northeastern Colorado. It borders the U.S. state of Nebraska ( there Cheyenne County). Through him passes Interstate 76 from Denver to Lincoln, Nebraska. Also here the Platte River flows in the same direction.
History
The County was formed in 1887 from parts of Weld County. It was named after John A. Logan, a general in the American Civil War and later a senator.

According to the census of 2000, there were 20,504 people in the county. There were 7,551 households and 5,066 families. The population density was 4 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 91.65 percent White, 2.05 percent African American, 0.64 percent Native American, 0.40 percent Asian, 0.07 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 3.77 percent from other races groups; 1.43 percent were descended from two or more races. 11.90 percent of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 7,551 households out of which 31.9 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 54.8 percent were married couples living together, 8.6 percent were single mothers. 32.9 percent were non-families. 28.5 percent of all households and 12.4 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.02.
Based on the county the population was spread from 24.7 percent population under 18 years, 10.8 percent between 18 and 24 years, 28.3 percent between 25 and 44 years, 21.7 percent between 45 and 64 years and 14.5 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 112.0 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 114.6 males.
The median income for a household was $ 32,724, and the median income for a family was $ 42,241. Males have a median income of $ 28,155, women $ 21,110. The per capita income was $ 16,721. 12.2 percent of the population and 9.0 percent of families are below the poverty line. This included 13.4 percent of the population under the age of 18 and 10.9 percent of the population aged 65 and over.
