History

The Logan County was formed on February 15, 1839, from parts of Sangamon, Tazewell, McLean and DeWitt County. It was named after John Logan, an MP in the House of Representatives from Illinois in the 30s and 40s of the 19th century. Logan County was also home to the later U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, after whom the city was named Lincoln.
