Logan County (Kentucky)

Logan County is a county located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Russellville, which was named after General William Russell.

Geography

The County is located in southwestern Kentucky, bounded on the south by the State of Tennessee and has an area of 1443 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It borders in Kentucky clockwise to the following counties: Muhlenberg County, Butler County, Warren County, Simpson County and Todd County.

History

Logan County was formed on June 28, 1792 from parts of Lincoln County. It was named after General Benjamin Logan. 1868 was the Southern Deposit Bank robbed by the gang of Jesse James.

Logan County is the birthplace of Jim Bowie, one of the defenders of the Alamo in 1836.

The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 2.96.
