Logan County (Nebraska)
Logan County is a county located in the state of Nebraska in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Stapleton.
Geography
The County is located just west of the geographic center of Nebraska and has an area of 1479 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Blaine County, Custer County, Lincoln County, McPherson County and Thomas County.
History
Logan County was formed in 1885. It is named after Union General John A. Logan.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Logan County 774 people in 316 households and 229 families. The population density was less than 1 inhabitant per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 98.6 percent white, 0.1 percent African American and 1.0 percent of Native Americans; 0.3 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.9 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 316 households out of which 29.7 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 66.5 percent were married couples living together, 3.8 percent were single mothers, 27.5 percent were non-families, 25.0 percent of all households and 12.7 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.95 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread from 27.3 percent population under 18 years, 4.4 percent between 18 and 24 years, 24.0 percent between 25 and 44 years, 26.7 percent between 45 and 64 years and 17.6 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 99.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.6 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 33,125, and the median income for a family was $ 38,958. Males have a median income of $ 26,250, women $ 18,906. The per capita income was $ 14,937. 6.5 percent of families and 10.5 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. This included 13.1 percent of children and adolescents under 18 years and 9.6 percent of seniors aged 65 and over.
