Lohr Industrie
Lohr Industrie S. A. is a French manufacturer of traffic engineering, headquartered in Strasbourg in Alsace. The company has a market share of 40 percent of the largest producer of car carriers in Europe.
Profile
The company was founded in 1963 by its current President Robert Lohr. Main business is the production of car carriers and the low-floor double car Modalohr and the production of the track trolleybus ( tram on rubber wheels ) of type Translohr. Also produced for the New York City Subway selected parts and in cooperation with the company Nexter the artillery gun in caliber 155 mm CAESAR.
The company has factories in Turkey, among others, in the People's Republic of China, the U.S. and Mexico. The approximately 2,000 employees generated sales of 320 million euros, in 2006 there were 250 million euros and 2005 revenues of 217 million euros in fiscal 2007. Car Transporter
The production of car transporters has a share of 80 percent of the total sales of the company. Focus on the areas of passenger transport (Series Euro Lohr 100 having an axis 300 Euro Lohr with two axles and CHR as standard), mixed transport cars and trucks (Multi Lohr ), and heavy transport ( Maxi Lohr with three-axle central axle ). Modalohr
With the low-floor double car Modalohr Lohr Industrie developed a concept for fast handling of containers, swap bodies and semi-trailers between road and rail. In special cars that are equipped with standard bogies, the load floor can be swung diagonally from the track axis. So it is a tractor possible to park the trailer on a low-lying ramp directly on the plateau, which is then again rotated in the longitudinal position. In 2002, the transport of goods between Aiton / Bourgneuf at Chambéry in France and Orbassano was opened in Italy in Turin after Modalohr system. 2007 was the connection from Perpignan to Luxembourg as the first part of a north-south axis in operation. In Germany a connection between the Baltic Sea ports (Lübeck and Rostock ) to Frankfurt am Main or Regensburg is planned.
Translohr
Another product of Lohr industry is the Translohr, a track-guided trolleybus or a Tramway sur pneumatiques. The cars are bi-directional articulated vehicles, the only - run track guided by a central rail - even at the depot and in the workshop.
The vehicles have single-pole pantograph and can also be used in multiple traction when needed. The wheels are housed in the joint portals, which both the envelope of the railcar optimized as also allows a more flexible design of the interior. Neoval
Since 2004, Siemens developed together with Lohr Group in the project Neoval the successor of the Val Trains of Neoval system are managed by a single central rail, similar to the Translohr system, and require no electrical power between the stations. So the cost of the infrastructure should be reduced since no additional power rail or trolley is required. The system is also able to recover the braking energy and use by a regenerative braking system. Since March 2009, a first Neoval pre-production vehicle will be tested on the test track of Lohr in Strasbourg with the Airval.
Automotive ( set )
Between 1977 and 1984, at least 218 cars were produced. Initially, there was the model Fardier Lohr FL 500, and later evolved into the Fardier Lohr FL 501 It resembled the Kraka. It was an amphibious vehicle with all-wheel drive. The two-cylinder boxer engine of Citroën with 602 cc capacity was mounted in the center of the vehicle. Other vehicle parts such as steering and gearbox have been used by other models by Citroën.
