Loi-kaw

Loi - kaw (also Loikaw ) is the capital of Kayah State in eastern Myanmar on the border with Thailand.

Location and General Description

The city is located in altitude of 1200 meters and has about 11,000 inhabitants. It is with the outside world via an airfield and the railway line Aungban - Loi - kaw connected - Pinlong. Most roads there are considered to be quite inadequate. In addition to a sawmill there are silk weaving. The city is also the seat of a Catholic diocese. As worth the two are far from the town situated on two hills venerable Taungwe Taung Zedi Pagoda.
