Lokai

The Lokaier is a breed of oriental descent from Tajikistan.

Exterior

The Lokaier is not very uniform, the north and south can be found partly different characteristics. The head is sometimes rude and has no breeding characteristics; usually it is short with a straight profile. The medium length neck is set thin and often quite deep. Breeding history

The Lokaier founded in the 16th century, when the Uzbek Lokai tribe began to improve the local medium-sized steppe horses especially with the Iomud horse. But Akhal-Teke and Karabaier were bred. Later Arab stallions from Bukhara were brought on site to improve the breed with them again. Curly hair is often found in Central Asian breeds.
