Lola (given name)
Lola is the Spanish and English short form of the female given name Dolores.
Origin and Meaning
In the German -speaking area has the short form of "Lola" a wicked aftertaste, due to the German film The Blue Angel by Josef von Sternberg (1929/1930) with Marlene Dietrich in the leading role, in which the " dashing Lola" as a femme fatale the Blue Angel leads to the terrible, but " earned " ruin. There are also memories of the infamous seducer and adventuress Lola Montez, an Irish dancer and mistress of King Ludwig I of Bavaria.
The statuette in the form of a female figure of the German Film Prize, which was first awarded in 1999 ( runs to the film Lola ), is called " Lola".
