Lolland Municipality

Lolland Municipality is a municipality in Denmark. It is located on the homonymous island in the region of Zealand in the south of the country, was established at the beginning of 2007, in the course of administrative reform.

Facts and Figures

Lolland includes the seven former municipalities Nakskov, Ravnsborg, Rudbjerg, Rodby, Maribo, Holeby and Højreby. The territory of the municipality covers 886.00 km ². It should be noted that the church only the central and western part of the island of Lolland ( about 1300 sq km ) while the eastern part ( the old municipalities of Sakskøbing and Nysted and Toreby Sogn as part of the old municipality Nykøbing ) together with the island of Falster form the new large community Guldborgsund municipality.

The municipality currently live 44,436 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The area contains the following parish communities (Danish: Sogn ) and villages with over 200 inhabitants ( byer as defined by the Danish Bureau of Statistics ), with a registered population of zero, the place in the past had more than 200 inhabitants. With the expansion of settlement areas, the village Anderstrup was calculated from the Statistical Office since the municipal reform of 2007 the town of Maribo in the table below which is marked A. The village Vesterby on the Fejø had 2004 or 247 inhabitants, since the municipal reform live there less than 200 people. In the table is marked with B.

Traffic

By municipality performs during the Vogelfluglinie the internationally important railway and road link Hamburg- Copenhagen. Through a private railway ( Lollandsbanen ) several community members are connected to the north ( among other Nakskov and Maribo ) to the crow flies.
