Lolo Letalu Matalasi Moliga

Lolo Letalu Matalasi Moliga (* in Tau, American Samoa ) is an American politician. Since 2013 he is the Governor of American Samoa.

Career

Lolo Moliga attended the public schools of his home and then the Chadron State College in Nebraska. Later he studied public administration at the University of San Diego in California. He began his career as a teacher. Later he became the administrator of the primary and secondary schools in the Ministry of Education of American Samoa. At the same time he embarked on a political career. He was in the budget department and then hired as Procurement Officer of the territorial government. For four legislative sessions, he was a deputy in the House of Representatives from American Samoa. After that, he was a member of the local senate. He was meanwhile also active in the construction industry. Since 2008 to 2012 he was president of the Development Bank of American Samoa.

In 2012, Lolo Moliga was elected to succeed Togiola Talalelei A. Tulafono the new Governor of American Samoa. As an independent candidate, he sat down in the election against Democratic Lieutenant Governor Faoa Aitofele Samaya. He took office on January 3, 2013 his lieutenant governor is Lemanu Peleti Mauga.
