Lom Kao District

Amphoe Lom Kao ( Thai อำเภอ หล่มเก่า ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Phetchabun. The Phetchabun province located in the southeastern part of the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Lom Kao is located in the mountains of the Phetchabun Mountains and therefore has a pleasant warm climate.

Amphoe Lom Kao is located in northern Phetchabun province and borders seen from the west clockwise from Amphoe Nam Nao on the, Lom Sak and Khao Kho in Phetchabun province, as well as to Dan Sai and Phu Ruea in Loei province.

History

Amphoe Lom Kao is located in an area that is known as Mueang Lom since the first kings of Sukhothai, it is certainly indicated on the large stone inscription of King Ramkhamhaeng. In the Rattanakosin period here lived a big group of Laotians who fled here from Vientiane. As the population increased by further immigration from Luang Prabang and Vientiane, further, the provincial governor encouraged the formation of a new city near the river Pasak, Amphoe Lom Sak today.

Management

Amphoe Lom Kao consists of nine sub-districts ( tambon), which further into 98 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Lom Kao ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หล่มเก่า ) is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it is vaus parts of the tambon Lom Kao.

In addition, there are nine " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
