In Loma Linda is located since 1990 the world's first clinical facility for proton therapy. It is part of the Medical Center at Loma Linda University. Caused a sensation in the Loma Linda University Medical Center in 1984 with the xenotransplantation of baboon heart to the two- week-old baby Fae.
