Lombardi Award

The Rotary Lombardi Award is awarded annually since 1970 to the college football player who has provided the best performance as a linebacker and as a player of the defensive line or offensive line. The price is reminiscent of the 1970 late coach Vince Lombardi, who worked among others as head coach of the Green Bay Packers and the Guard played American football at Fordham University.

Choice

The player's election shall be held under the auspices of the Rotary Club of Houston. Entitled to vote are the members of a committee, which is composed of former football players, coaches, members of the Rotary Club and media representatives. A member of the Election Committee are, inter alia, the winners Dat Nguyen and Walt Patulski.

The players will be honored at the end of a game year in an event with the presentation of a trophy. The material used to granite, is to remember the offensive line of Lombardi at Fordham University, which was called " 7 Blocks of Granite ".

The Outland Trophy is also awarded by another organization since 1946 to the best linebacker or best players on the defensive or offensive line. The prices are not identical. The winners often differ.
