Lommatzsch FES-530 Lehrmeister

The FES -530 "teacher " is a two-seat school sailors, which was developed in the 1950s. With this type, and the Czechoslovak LF -109 " Pionýr " the transition from the single-seater for two seat training method was carried out in the GST of the GDR. He was also the first in the GDR developed and mass-produced aircraft.

Development

The construction was carried out in 530 winter of 1953 in the VEB Gotha wagon by Hans plantain (aerodynamics ), Wilhelm Zimmermann (statics) and Hans Hartung ( construction ) under the direction of Gerhard Renner still under the name Gotha Go into all- wood construction. In 1954 the production was to VEB Lommatzsch apparatus, which had been founded in the same year on the site of a former glassworks to be relocated. In the same year, the first production version FES -530 appeared ( for research and development center) with abgestrebtem airfoil in high-wing design. From 1957 the model went to the GST. In 1959, the teacher was further developed for FES -530 / I with cantilever wings. In the same year was reduced by two-meter wingspan FES-530/II "teacher II " was born.

From FES -530 a total of 223 units were built, of which 22 units abroad (Denmark, Syria, Egypt and Cuba) were exported. A FES-530/II ( ID DM- 3264 ) went as a gift to Austria and flew there with the connoisseur OE - 0702nd He was re- launched in 2002 back to Schoenhagen and there largely true to the original, among other things with the help of the former workshop manager of the Central Aviation School of GST, John Höntsch overtaken in loving detail. The teacher replaced the previously used and still originating from the 1930s single-seat training glider SG 38 and was flown to the end of the 1970s in the GDR. He was replaced by the Bocian 1E from Poland. Since 2004, the rebuilt FES -530 flies (DM- 3152 ) in Pirna.
