Lomnitzer peak (the peak on the left)

The Lomnický stit (German Lomnitzer tip) is 2,632 m, the third highest peak in the High Tatras and Slovakia. He is considered the highest permanent workplace Slovakia.

The Lomnitzer tip, one of the best known and most popular peaks of the High Tatras, is pyramid-shaped and has three ridges and two minor peaks, the Kežmarský stit and Huncovský stit. While drawing 1760-1790 Štefan Fábry be the first ascent succeeded evidence of this is, however, Robert Townson and his mountain guide on August 16, 1793. Since 1891 ascents are carried out during the winter.

At the summit there is a cable car station and a astronomical- meteorological Institute. In 1957, a radio tower, built in 1962, a high-voltage line.

From Tatranská Lomnica the cable car Lomnitzer tip leads to the summit; walk it is to climb only with a guide.

Apart from the mountain station, a building was erected for a weather station in 1940. In 1962, the coronary care of the astronomical institute of the Academy of Sciences was established to investigate the cosmic radiation.
