Lomo

LOMO ( until 1965 GOMZ, then loomp ), is an abbreviation for Leningradskoje optiko - mechanitscheskoje obedinenije ( Ленинградское оптико - механическое объединение ). 1914, the company was founded in St. Petersburg; the city was during the Soviet Union Leningrad, where also the "L " comes in today's company name.
