London City Airport DLR station

London City Airport is a station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR ) in the London Borough London Borough of Newham. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 3 at the Hartmann Road in Silvertown district, just outside the terminal of the airport London City.

The station is located, the typical construction of the DLR following, elevated on a viaduct. In addition, it is fully covered and has two inputs. The central platform is connected by stairs, escalators and elevators with an intermediate level. From the latter, the main hall of the airport terminal can be reached directly. From the entrance on the lower level is a short pedestrian tunnel to Drew Road, which mainly serves the local population.

Was opened the station on 2 December 2005, together with the branch line between Canning Town and King George V. Previously, the airport can only be reached very awkward by public transport, take a shuttle bus from Canning Town Station. Before the construction of the station was located on the grounds of the Primary School Drew Primary School, a 100 -year-old building with three floors; a new school was built nearby.
