London (Ontario)

London [ lʌndən ] is a town in Middlesex County in the southern part of the province of Ontario in Canada. It is located at 43 ° 2 ' north latitude and 81 ° 9' west longitude and has about 366,000 inhabitants (as of 2011). The River Thames flows through London.

The first settlement dates back to 1826, since 1855, London is a city. It is located between Lake Huron and Lake Erie midway between Toronto and Detroit in the region Western Ontario.

History

Before the arrival of Europeans in the 17th century lived in this region various Algonquian and Iroquoian peoples ( Iroquois ).
