The London Road Stadium is a football stadium in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England. The venue opened in 1913, is the home of the football club Peterborough United and was until January 2010 also his property. The attendance record was set on February 20, 1965 at FA Cup match Peterborough United against Swansea City. The match of the 5th round was watched by 30,096 visitors.

History

The construction started in 1913 and was completed in the same year. The club leased the facility in 1934 from the city. At that time, the venue of a wooden grandstand with seating for 250 and earthen walls behind the goals.

Today the stadium from the two seat grandstands (Norwich and Peterborough South Family Stand and Main North Stand ) is along the game field. The North Stand was redesigned after the rise of Peterborough United in the Football League First Division in 1992. In January 2010, the Peterborough City Council bought the club from the stadium for £ 8 million. In September 2012, Peterborough United and the city agreed on a renovation and expansion of the London Road. The city approved the expansion of the venue to 19.000. In addition, the city of Peterborough bears the loss of gate receipts during reconstruction. The construction works are expected to begin in late 2012 and be completed at the beginning of the 2013/14 season.

Grandstands
