London Underground 1967 Tube Stock (or short only 67 Tube floor) was a series of electric railcar that was used on the London Underground Victoria line. According to the usual conventions London Underground, the term of the proposed year of entry (1967 ) derives.

History

After successful tests with for Automatic Train Operation (ATO / automated driving) converted trains of the type 1960 Tube Stock on the Central Line between Hainault and Woodford, 1964 trains of 1967 Tube Stock at Metro - Cammell were ordered for the new Victoria Line in March. The original order included 30 ½ trains, the first of which was delivered on 27 September in Ruislip depot. Following the decision to extend the Victoria Line from Victoria to Brixton, the appointment of an additional 9 trains has been extended so that a total of 39 ½ trains were delivered. The first use with passengers took place on February 21, 1968 on the Central Line between Hainault and Woodford, the first use on the Victoria Line was carried out on 1 September 1968 with the opening of the first section.

Other three and a half trains built in the years 1987-1989 through the conversion of previously used on the Northern Line carriage of the 1972 Mk.I tube stick, making the fleet of 1967 Tube Stock grew to a total of 43 trains. Three more cars were rebuilt in the second half of the 1990s to replace defective cars, the fleet size thus did not change. The 1967 Tube Stock was modernized from June 1990 to May 1995 at the Tickford Rail Ltd. fundamentally.

The vehicles until 30 June 2011, the second oldest series of London Underground in daily use. Among the tube sheets of the 1967 Tube Stock was at times the oldest series. Due to their age, she was retired and from 2009 replaced by the 2009 Tube Stock.

Train composition and details

The 1967 Tube Stock is made of half-moves, which are formed from two Driving Motor Cars (DM ) and two trailer cars (T). A Driving Motor Car is equipped with a driving cab and drive motors, a trailer car has neither input nor cab. In contrast to the delivery status could in later years, not all half moves freely coupled, since with time have lost their ATO equipment for spare parts single cabs. Thus, the converted from the 1972 Mk.I tube stick half moves from a driving motor car and a trailer of the 1972 Car Mk.I tube stick and a driving motor car and a trailer car of the 1967 Tube stock arose. Since the 1972 Mk.I Tube Stock was never provided with ATO equipment, the trains thus formed had only one cab with ATO equipment. Although cabs without ATO equipment could be used for shunting at the depot, but had to use mandatory for the passenger wagon with ATO equipment running at Zugspitze and end of the train, as the Victoria Line is operated by ATO. Fully equipped cabs at both ends were present in the 2000s, only a minority of the trains. Such half- trains could in theory be used alone, all other trains were only allowed to operate as 8 -car train.

The trains were, as was usual, delivered with unpainted aluminum car bodies. This appearance she wore up to your modernization, where they today's usual underground colors (red cab and doors, car body white with blue stripes on the bottom ) received, but only the fully-equipped cabs were painted red. An innovation in the trains was the ATO equipment: The driver had it at one station after the doors were closed, just press a start button and the train accelerated and braked automatically to the next station. Another innovation was the equipment with a public address system for passenger information.

Use

The vehicles were used exclusively on the Victoria Line as 8- car trains. A bet of 4-car trains was possible if both cabs of the half turn were provided with ATO equipment. From 1968 to 1984 4-car trains were used on the Central Line on the route between Hainault and Woodford, which served as the ATO test track. Without further application of these vehicles in 2008 was only possible on the Victoria Line, as on the Central Line is now another ATO system is used and is being run manually on other lines.
