Long Beach ( nicknamed "The City by the Sea ") is a city in Nassau County, New York to the south of Long Iceland.

It received city rights in 1922 and has 35 462 inhabitants with 14,923 households (2000 ) on an area of 10.1 km ².

Long Beach is an exclave of the Town of Hempstead and is located on the Atlantic coast. Council CEO since June 29, 2006 Edwin L. Eaton, of this office already held from 1979 to 1999 and 2001.

Long Beach is connected to the network of the Long Iceland Railroad.
