Long County, Georgia

The Long County is a county located in the U.S. state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ludowici, which was named after the Ludowici Roof Tile brick plants and the German immigrant Carl Ludowici, made ​​the basic work to build the high school system in America.

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Georgia, located about 50 km from the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of 1045 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface, and borders clockwise to the following counties: Liberty County, McIntosh County, Wayne County and Tattnall County.

History

Long County was formed on 14 August 1920 as 157 County Georgia from portions of Liberty County. It was named a pioneer of anesthesia and the modern medical devices used by Dr. Crawford W. Long.

Demographic data

According to the census in 2000 lived in Long County 10,304 people in 3,574 households and 2,676 families. The population density was 10 people per square kilometer.
